The two beasts of Revelations
The first beast
The seven heads of the beast of 10 horns are the empires:
1st – Assyria
2nd – Babylon
3rd – Media
4th – Persia
5th – Greece
6th - Rome - existed when John wrote the Revelations
7th - Rome - Current Europe
8th - The Antichrist – is one of the seven – by being the ruler of Europe and
is also the 8th as regent of the 10 economic blocks - the beast of 10 horns.
The European Parliament has some 700 members but the chair 666 in Brussels remains
empty. Any reason? The second beast makes an image and will supply the political
and military backbone, because the second-beast beast exercises, in fact, the
power of the first beast as world empire, and does so in the presence of the
first beast the empire of the antichrist: ”And he exercises all the authority
of the first beast in his presence, and causes the earth and those who dwell in
it to do homage to the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.”(Rev.13:12) Summarizing:
It is not the antichrist’s empire who exercises the power, but the second
beast, the beast that gives power to the antichrist which is also called false prophet:
”And the beast was captured, and with him the false
prophet who worked signs in his presence, by which he led astray those who
received the mark of the beast and those who did homage to his image. These two
were cast alive into the Lake of Fire burning with brimstone.” (Rev.19:20)
We know that the second beast is called false prophet because it ”worked signs in
his presence, by which he led astray those who received the mark of the beast
and those who did homage to his image.”
The second beast
I have rehearsed several alternative candidates as the second beast, especially
the Pope with his two titles: Sumus Pontifex and Vicarius Filii Dei as the two
horns of the beast. But the Vatican with his papacy, apparently, is unable to
perform the signs attributed to the second beast. ”Then I saw another beast coming up
out of the earth, and he had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon." (Rev.13:11)
Horns are symbols for kings, or rulers and heads are symbols for empires and
hills: ”Here is the mind which has wisdom: The seven heads are
seven mountains on which the woman sits. There are also seven kings. Five have
fallen, one is, and the other has not yet come. And when he comes, he must
continue a short time.”(Rev.17:9-10) This second beast would have ”two
kings", or two governments. The reference to ”horns as lamb" seems to
infer that this ruler has a harmless appearance but ”spoke like a
dragon." How does
a Dragon speak? Misleading. And that is what this beast does. It encourages the
earth and its inhabitants to worship the first beast. This is a tremendous
mistake because: ”You shall do homage to the Lord your God, and Him only
you shall serve.” (Matt.4:10b) This second beast also wrongs with the signs which it
performs: ”And he exercises all the authority of the first beast
in his presence, and causes the earth and those who dwell in it to do homage to
the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.”(Rev.13:12) It coexists
with the beast of the 7 heads and 10 horns and holds the power in its presence.
The two empires, thus co-exist and the second holds the power. “And he performs
great signs, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven onto the earth in
the sight of men.”(Rev.13:13) The beast of the two horned-beast performs great signs:
"And he leads astray those who dwell on the earth by means of those signs
which he was granted to do in the presence of the beast, telling those who
dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who was wounded by the sword
and lived.”(Rev.13:14)
The second beast provides worship to the first beast. ”And it was
given to him to give spirit to the image of the beast, that the image of the
beast should both speak and cause as many as would not do homage to the image
of the beast to be killed." (Rev.13:15) Would “Give spirit to
the image”, be, in
modern terms, an "animated image”? “And he causes all, both small and
great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or
on their foreheads, so that no one may
buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number
of his name.”(Rev.13:16-17) John saw, but it seems that he was unable to understand
exactly what it was: ”Mark, name of the beast or the number of his name."
Perhaps it is also kind of three options: bar code, chip implants and a tattoo
with a code. ”Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding
calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man, and his
number is 666.” (Rev.13:18) The U.S. is currently the country that best fits this
description and which is the best qualified to conduct the signs described.
Below is something about the U.S.’s capacity to produce the signs. But who, then,
represents the two horns? U.S. plus some other country? As, perhaps, Britain?
Russia? Israel? Canada?
The U.S., that I know, is the only democratic
country in the world that, by law, has only two political parties. Are these
the two horns of the beast? Maybe.
The signs that this beast is capable to perform
UFOs. The new-agers, mystics and related, talk a lot about flying saucers and
aliens. The curiosity for extraterrestrial life has been, and still is, the
main lever to raise funds for space programs. I think the sincere scientists,
evolutionists included, should, after the search with the probe Phoenix, bury
forever the possibility of extraterrestrial life. This probe carved the surface
of Mars, found ice but no traces of life. If there had been living organisms on
