The greatest earthquake in ever
"And the seventh angel poured out his bowl into the
air, and a loud voice came out of the temple of Heaven, from the throne,
saying, It is finished! And there were noises and thunderings and lightnings;
and there was a great earthquake, such a mighty and great earthquake as had not
occurred since men came to be on the earth. And the great city was divided into
three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. And Babylon the great was
remembered before God, to give her the Bowl of the wine of the anger of His Wrath.
And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found.” (Rev.16:17-20)
This is the Day of the Lord which follows after the period of the great tribulation.
The great tribulation is basically the work of men. The Day of the Lord is the
work of God. At the above passages the time of men’s evil works almost over.
They have destroyed spiritual Babylon, probably about 3 ½ years earlier. This
is the moment of the destruction of commercial Babylon. It will be destroyed by
God, even, possibly through human acts, at the beginning of Day of the Lord.
“And Jehovah shall go forth and fight against those
nations, like the day He fought in the day of battle. And His feet shall stand
in that day on the Mount of Olives, which is
before Jerusalem on the east; and the Mount of Olives shall split in two, from
the east even to the west, a very great valley. And half of the mountain shall
move toward the north, and half of it toward the south. And you shall flee to
the valley of My mountains, for the valley of the mountains shall reach to
Azal. And you shall flee as you fled before the earthquake in the days of
Uzziah, king of Judah. And Jehovah my God shall come, and all the saints with
You.” (Za.14 :3-5)
I understand that this is the newly
raptured church in the clouds, ”And it will come to pass in that day, that there shall not be
light; the great lights will shrink. And
it will be one day which shall be known to Jehovah; not day and not night, but
it will happen, that
there will be light at evening time. And it shall be in that day, that living waters shall
go out from Jerusalem, half of them toward the eastern sea, and half of them
toward the western sea; in summer and in winter it shall be. And Jehovah shall
be King over all the earth. In that day there shall be one Jehovah, and His
name one. All the land shall be changed into a plain from Geba to Rimmon south
of Jerusalem. And it shall rise and dwell in its place, from Benjamin's Gate to
the place of the First Gate, to the Corner Gate, and from the Tower of Hananeel
to the king's winepresses;”(Za.14:6-10) Here is the way the earthquake forms
a large flat valley east west, and opens a source of “living waters
shall go out from Jerusalem, half of them toward the eastern sea, and half of
them toward the western sea;” (Za.14:8b) It appears that this earthquake will
be throughout the whole globe and makes that ” every island fled away, and the
mountains were not found”(Rev.16:20) That means that the chains of
mountains disappear, those that block the clouds causing rains and droughts in
local weather patterns. After that all
the land is watered with similar rate of rainfall. But let’s not forget the
possible local meaning, addressed further down. Ezekiel reports, in a very
detailed way, the water source in Jerusalem and gives
the description of its size: ”Then he brought me back to the
entrance of the house; and there was water, flowing toward the east for the
front of the house faces
east and the water
was flowing from under the right side of the house, south of the altar. "(Ez.47:1) This reference provides the information
of where the waters flow ”from under the threshold of the house." The
house here is the Temple: ”He brought me out by way of the north gate, and led me
around the outside to the outer gate that faces east; and there was water,
running out on the right side.” (Ez.47:2)
Take note of the size of the source:”And when the man went out to the
east with the line in his hand, he measured one thousand cubits(~ 500m), and he
brought me through the waters; the water came up to the ankles. Again he
measured one thousand and brought me through the waters; the water came up to
the knees. Again he measured one thousand (in total 2km wide to the
deepest spot!!)”and brought me through; the water came up to the
waist. Again he measured one thousand, and it was a river that I could not
cross, for the water was too deep; water in which one must swim, a river that
could not be crossed. And he said to me, Son of man, have you seen this? And he
brought me and returned me to the bank of the river. When I returned, there,
along the bank of the river, were very many trees on one side and the other. Then
he said to me: This water flows toward the eastern region, goes down into the
wilderness, and enters the sea. When it reaches the sea, its waters are healed.
And it shall be that every living thing that swarms, wherever the rivers go,
will live. There will be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters
go there; for they will be healed, and everything will live wherever the river
shall come.” (Ez.47:3-9) It
seems that the fish come up the river that flows down to the Mediterranean and swim
down the other side into the dead sea. ”It shall be that fishermen will
stand by it from En Gedi to En Eglaim; they will be places for spreading their nets.
Their fish will be of the same kinds as the fish of the Great Sea, exceedingly
many. But its swamps and marshes will not be healed; they will be given over to
salt”(Ez.47:10-11)
“And it shall be in that day, that living waters shall
go out from Jerusalem, half of them toward the eastern sea, and half of them
toward the western sea; in summer and in winter it shall be”(Zac.14:8)
Because of En-Gedi is at Dead Sea level, but the salt content of the Dead Sea
will be reduced dramatically, the great earthquake possibly opens a basin south
of the Dead Sea, allowing fresh water from the river of the Temple to drive the
salt water to the south end. Chemically it, however, sound weird, because the
two mix perfect.
The range of events
An expression points to consider the extension of the events. In some cases
there is a distinction between the extent of what happens on “earth ” or "
